The Disc Number field has special meaning when your song book database was constructed by a File and Folder Name Import or by Importing from a Siglos Karaoke Professional database. In these cases the Disc Number field will also represent the name of the folder on your hard drive that the disc is linked to. (When this is the case a
icon will be shown directly to the left of the Disc Number field). For more general information regarding editing disc data see this topic.
When you see the
icon, there are two rules you should observe when editing the Disc Number for a given disc.
Rule 1
You cannot change the Disc Number to a value that would cause a conflict with another folder on your hard drive when you perform a Synchronization.
| 1. | For example, If disc number "01" in your song book points to "C:\Karaoke\01" and disc "02" points to "C:\Karaoke\02", then you cannot change the disc number for "01" to "02" without first changing "02" to something else and performing the synchronization for disc number "02". |
| 2. | Another example: suppose you have a disc in your song book numbered "ABC123" that points to "C:\Karaoke\ABC123" on your hard drive and you also have an existing folder of "C:\Karaoke\XYZ987" on your hard drive. You will get this this same error if you attempt to renumber this disc to "XYZ987", even if you do not have any disc with the number "XYZ987" in your song book. |
| 3. | If you change a disc number in a way that violates this rule you'll see a flashing |
Rule 2
You should not change the disc number to a value that contains one or more characters not allowed in folder names in Windows.
| 1. | For example, if you have a disc numbered "01" and you change it to "01<temp>", you will get a warning message because "<" and ">" cannot be used in a folder name in Windows. |
| 2. | You can still perform a synchronization in this case, but this disc would be renamed to "01temp" instead of "01<temp>". This does NOT present a major problem, but you should be aware of this. |
| 3. | In most versions of Windows the ", <, >, |, / characters are all invalid. |
| 4. | If you change a disc number in a way that violates this rule you'll see a flashing |
