You can customize the style, grouping, title, sub-title, all fonts and even filter out songs added after a specified date!

Style and Grouping

Style

The song book style determines the overall layout and look and feel of your song book.  Pilot Song Book Creator ships with a number of professionally designed song book styles.  To change the style select the desired style from the Style drop down in the Song Book group on the ribbon.  You can even print Jewel Case inserts for every disc in your collection by changing the Style to JewelCase!

Grouping

Song books can be grouped by title, artist, etc to help people locate songs in your song book when they are looking for something in particular.

There are up to five groupings available for each song book style.  These are Artist, Disc, Genre, Remarks, and Title.  Grouping by Remarks essentially enables you to create a song book grouped in a custom way since you can use the remarks field of each song to store whatever data you see fit.  For example, the remarks field could be used to store the name of the manufacturer of the each karaoke song, thus allowing you to group by manufacturer.

To change the grouping for your song book, simply select the desired grouping from the Group By drop down in the Song Book group on the ribbon.

Case

Song books can be rendered as they are in the song database, in all uppercase, or in all lowercase.

To change the case simply select the desired case from the Case drop down.  This does NOT make any changes to your song database and only affects how your song book is rendered.

Notes

When grouping by Remarks or Genre, you will only get meaningful results if you have data in these fields.
Pilot Karaoke offers a low cost service to create custom song book styles to meet your specific needs.  This service takes about 14 business days start to finish and runs about $20-$50 depending on the work involved.  For details and cost estimates, please contact Pilot Karaoke directly via email at support@pilotkaraoke.com.
Title and Subtitle

You can change the title and sub title for your song book directly in the Title and Sub Title group on the ribbon.  Note that the sub title is actually a drop down.  Clicking on the down arrow will present one or more sub title suggestions for you based on the selected grouping and date filter.  You are not limited to these suggestions, however.  You can enter any sub title you wish.

Fonts

Every font used to render your song book can be customized to meet your needs.  You can change the font name, size, and color as well as make it bold, italic, or underlined.  The fonts you choose are stored by song book style since each style may call for different fonts (for example, the Compact style works best with small font sizes, yet the Default style works best with larger sizes.).

To customize fonts

1.Click the Customize Fonts button in the Song Book group on the ribbon.  You will see the following dialog:

2.Simply click the Change button next to the font you wish to customize.
3.You will be presented with the familiar Windows Font Dialog where you can make desired changes to the font.
4.Click OK and the changes will be reflected in the Customize Fonts window shown above as well as immediately rendered on the song book itself.

Notes

Not every style has a Group Header.  Changing the Group Header font for a style that does not use it, will have no affect on the result.
Filtering by date

You can filter the songs in your song book by when they were added.  This can be very useful if you regularly add music to your collection as this enables you to print "update" song books in the interim between when full song books are published.

To limit the songs in your song book to only those added after the date of your choice, simply check the Only Show Songs After check box in the Filter group on the ribbon and then enter the date you wish to filter by into the Date box.

Notes

Most everything you can change or customize on this screen will result in the song book automatically re-rendering to reflect your changes.  In the event this does not happen automatically, you can simply click the Refresh button in the Song Book group on the ribbon.
