What's new in version 3.0?

Previous pageReturn to chapter overviewNext page

Pilot Song Book Creator has been almost completely re-written in version 3.0 from version 2.x.

1.The most dramatic change you will notice is the Microsoft® Office® 2007 Ribbon user interface which is designed to make this software the easiest to use of all song book programs in existence.
2.In addition, another major change is the way song book data files are opened and saved.  Version 2.x and earlier used a "Working Song Book" which would automatically save and load itself which led to some confusion.  Version 3 has done away with the working song book and opens, saves, and closes working song books exactly the same way as most any other program that works with data files such as Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.
3.This application help system was completely redone.
3.1.This help file was redesigned and 95% completely re-written.
3.2.A help index search is available on the main window and allows for a quick search of the help index.
3.3."Context Sensitive" help was added to most windows for a quick explanation of hoe things work.  To activate, simply press the F1 key on the keyboard.
4.Several new features were added including:
4.1.You now have the ability to import song files individually rather than the entire disc at a time.  This is useful for times when you add to your collection via downloads from one of the many available music and karaoke download sites or any other time you need to import just a few songs from a disc.
4.2.You can now synchronize a single disc at a time, rather than having to synchronize your entire collection every time.  This will prove invaluable as you add discs a few at a time to your collection.
4.3.You can now import from another song book data file effectively allowing you to merge two or more song books into a single song book.
4.4.A list of recently opened song books was added.
4.5.A robust and powerful Find and Replace feature was added.
4.6.The Multi Column song book style was added.  This is very useful for KJs and DJs that do not use disc numbers and track numbers in their song books as it can reduce the size of the song book by about 50%!
4.7.Most previously available features were enhanced for performance or ease of use.
5.Several defects in version 2.x were addressed including:
5.1.The Quick disc select feature in version 2.x did not work correctly when new discs were added to the collection.  This is now fixed.  In addition, the Quick disc select feature was significantly enhanced and moved to a reposition able toolbar.
5.2.With the removal of the Working Song Book, a problem that occurred when the working song book became inadvertently corrupt is now gone.  This problem kept the program from opening but was uncommon.
5.3.The confirm imported data form was modified to prevent an invalid value from being entered for the track number which previously resulted in an error message.
5.4.The error reporting capability that was no longer available in version 2.x due to a server upgrade is now restored in version 3
6.Other aspects were changed to improve how intuitive the program is including:
6.1.Unnecessary record navigation toolbars were removed.
6.2.The song book view was removed in favor of an entirely new Song Book Viewer which provides a much more intuitive interface and significantly more screen area for viewing the song book on-screen.

Version 3.0+ of Pilot Song Book Creator represents a huge improvement over version 2.x.  Best of all, the upgrade is entirely FREE for licensed users of all previous versions!
