Version 3.5 adds a number of useful features and enhancements which will give you even more control over your song book data!
Feature Updates
| 1.1. | Toggle first name first or first name last - change the artist name in the active text box to first name first or first name last just by pressing F2! |
| 1.2. | Toggle the order of English language articles (A, An, and The) to the front or to the end of the text in the active text box (The Song becomes Song, The) or vice versa. |
| 1.3. | Toggle the case of the active text to uppercase, lowercase, or title case - the title case algorithm is one of the most advanced in existence that will yield acceptable results with no editing required! (Title Case means that each word in the title is capitalized with the exception of words like "to", "the", etc) |
| 1.4. | The articles and case tools (1.2 and 1.3) above can be automatically applied to ALL artists and titles in the entire database saving potentially hundreds of hours of work! |
| 2. | Added Tips at Startup - When you open the program, you will be presented with one of several tips to help you get the most of this powerful software, quickly! You can view just the one tip, or cycle through all of them. (This can be turned off). |
| 4. | Now after saving your song book or committing changes, the active disc will no longer reset to the first disc. This will allow for much more efficient editing of data. |
| 5. | Made new data columns available to the Song View. (They are hidden by default but can be shown with the Column Chooser) |
| 5.1. | Album Title and Disc Remarks allow you to see the disc's album title and the disc's remarks on the Song View |
| 5.2. | Path & File Name allows you to see the file and folder the song is linked to (if applicable; without the file extension). This is useful for easily pinpointing which songs are missing a link. |
Changes
| 1. | The Open File Dialog on the Import Individual Songs feature will now default to the folder that the current disc is linked to (if applicable). This can save some considerable time as you add new songs to your song book. |
| 2. | Moved the location for Commit Changes and Cancel Changes on the Home tab of the Ribbon to improve the layout of the ribbon. |
| 3. | Clarified the tool tip for Cancel Changes to make it clear that this will cancel ALL changes made since the save Commit or Save. (This can be thousands of changes if you've used an automated tool such as an import or one of the text tools) |
| 4. | The Zip Conversion settings are now "remembered" for the Synchronization process. |
| 5. | The Import vs Merge option is not "remembered" for all the relevant import processes. |
Bug Fixes
| 1. | Fixed a problem with Drag and Dropping of song files if there was one or more extra periods (.) in the file name. |
| 2. | Fixed a rare problem that caused an occasional error to come up during the synchronization process. |
| 3. | Addressed a problem that caused a misleading error during the Import from CD process. This will now provide a more meaningful error message. |
| 4. | Fixed a bug with the Synchronization process when the file name was only to change by its case. (i.e. Uppercase vs lowercase). The software previously reported this as a "rename required" but then failed during the rename as Windows does not allow for renaming a file when the old and new file names vary only by case. This will now report this as "no rename required". |
| 5. | Fixed the status bar at the bottom of the main window which was not displaying certain messages properly. (This would not have been easily noticed before, but now you might notice that file opened and file saved messages now correctly appear once again). |
| 6. | Updated the error message if there is an attempt to import an incorrect file type for the Import from another Song Book feature. (This is only intended to import other song books created within this software, not another program). |
| 7. | Updated the error message when attempting to import a non-CSV file with the Import from CSV process. This process can only import Comma Separated Value (CSV) files. Excel files cannot be imported directly. |
| 8. | Fixed a bug that caused an error when performing a synchronization on a song book that has songs which pointed to a genre that was not in the default genre list. |
| 10. | Fixed a bug on the Confirm Extracted Elements form that was displaying "N/A" for fields that were not part of the file name template but were determined via other means. |
