Pilot Song Book Creator makes use of the innovative, new Microsoft® Office® 2007 Ribbon menu system.  This make all the features of the program easy to locate and remember.  Below is a brief introduction to this interface to help you become familiar with it if you're not already.

The Ribbon

Above is an example of the ribbon in Pilot Song Book Creator.  See below for a brief description of its main parts.

Application Menu Button

Clicking the application menu button will show the application menu which is similar to the File menu in the previous interface.  The application menu contains all the commands to open, close, and save song books, as well as access to the program options.

Quick Access Toolbar

The quick access toolbar contains a shortcut to the most frequently used commands that are available regardless of what ribbon tab is active.  You can even customize what menu items (commands) are on this toolbar.  If you notice a command you frequently use from the ribbon or application menu simply right-click on it and select Add to Quick Access Toolbar.

Ribbon Tabs

Ribbon tabs are used to group menu items or commands with similar or common functionality.  To move between them, simply click on the desired tab.  You can also press the Alt key to visually see the keyboard shortcut for each tab (and each other item on the ribbon you can interact with).

The Home tab contains the most frequently used commands in the program.

Ribbon Groups

Ribbon groups logically organize the menu items within a ribbon tab based on their function.

Menu Items

Every command on the ribbon that has a function in the program is a menu item.  Every menu item in Pilot Song Book Creator has either a small or a large icon associated with it to help you identify the menu item with the function it performs.  The large icon items are typically used more often then the small icon items.

Help Index Search

The help index search is available on the main window and allows for a quick search of this help file's index.  Simply type a word or two in this box and the help index will open.  If your search words match a help index exactly, then the topic will open, otherwise the index will go to the entry nearest to your search term.  Upon clicking on the desired index entry the help topic will open.

Notes

Most every window in Pilot Song Book Creator is enabled with context sensitive help.  You can press the "F1" key and a help topic will usually open that explains the process you're working on in detail.
