Modify File Name Template - Advanced mode

Previous pageReturn to chapter overviewNext page

If you know exactly what file name template to use, or both Basic and Intermediate modes prove unable to determine how your files are named, you will want to specify the exact file name template using Advanced mode.

Instructions

1.Select the Advanced Mode tab on the Generate File Name Template (Intermediate mode) window.
2.You will now see something similar to the following dialog:

3.You can use the various buttons in the File Name Template section to change the file name template to match the way your songs are named.  (See notes below for a detailed explanation of each of these buttons)
3.1.The Clear button can be used to quickly start from an empty file name template
3.2.The other buttons will save you from typing the individual elements of the file name template
4.Before you perform the import with the file name template you created in step 3, we recommend testing the file name template with one of the song files you intend to import.  You can do that by browsing to a song with the Browse button and then click the Test File Name Template with Selected Song File button.
4.1.Pilot Song Book Creator will now use the file name template to extract the information shown from the file name of the test song you provided.
4.2.If the test output does not show as you expect, then adjust the file name template until it does.
5.Click OK when the test output is correct based on the file name template you have selected.

Notes

The following is a summary of each file name template element you can use above:
o{Artist}, {Title}, {Album}, & {TrackNumber} represent the artist, song title, album name, and track number, respectively.
o{Ignore} - This is used to represent any text in your file names that you want to be ignored during the import.  Usually this will not be used, but it is needed if you have information other than artist, title, album name, and track number in your file name template (such as genre or disc #) as only the artist, title, album name, and track number are extracted from the file name of any given song.  (The disc number is extracted from the name of the folder for which the song is located on your hard drive)
o" - " and "_-_" - shortcuts for the most common "delimiters".  (A delimiter is used to distinguish between the above data elements.)
If you are using Pilot Song Book Creator to import karaoke music you have ripped with Power CD+G Burner, you will want to keep the default file name template of "{Album} - {TrackNumber} {Artist} - {Title}".
If the test track number is showing a 0 (zero) then Pilot Song Book Creator was unable to locate the track number in the test song based on the file name template you have supplied OR you have not included {TrackNumber} in the template.  If this is the case during the actual import, Pilot Song Book Creator will assign automatically assign a track number during the import process based on the order each song is imported.
The Disc # is imported from the folder name of the song you are importing and does not come from the song file name.
If you have song files on your hard drive that are named with different naming conventions, you will more than likely be able to import them all, but you will need to do a separate import with the correct file name template for for each set of these files.
