Pilot Song Book Creator includes a number of handy tools that you can use to improve the consistency of the data in your song book database. You switch first and last names for an artist, convert all the artist and titles to Title Case, etc in seconds!
| 1. | To access the text tools click the Tools tab on the main Ribbon. |

| 2. | If you wish, you can expand the window by clicking the down arrow at the bottom-right of the tools gallery to show the following: |

| 3. | The first three tools apply the named change to only the text in the active text box or grid cell. This is useful for making smaller edits to your song data. Because these tools may be more readily used there is a keyboard shortcut for each (see below). |
| 4. | The remaining tools apply their changes to all artists and song titles in your entire song database. |
| 5. | See below for a detailed description of each tool. |
|

| 1. | Clicking this button (or pressing F2 on your keyboard) will toggle the order of the first and last names in the active text box or grid cell. For example: Garth Brooks becomes Brooks, Garth or vice versa |
| 2. | For best results, it is best only to use this tool when the active text box contains an artist's name. It is not possible for this tool to distinguish between an artist's name and a band's name. If you inadvertently use this tool you can restore the original text by simply applying it again. |
|

| 1. | Clicking this button (or pressing F4 on your keyboard) will toggle the order of the English language articles (A, An, and The) in the active text box or grid cell. For example: The Cure becomes Cure, The or vice versa. |
| 2. | This tool has no affect on text that does not contain any articles. |
|

| 1. | Clicking this button (or pressing F3 on your keyboard) will toggle the case of the text in the active text box or grid cell. For example: my song becomes MY SONG which then becomes My Song (and then starts over with lowercase) |
| 2. | For all lower or all uppercase, the entire text is converted with no consideration for content. |
| 3. | Generally speaking title case is where every word is capitalized with the exception of a few smaller words like "a", "from", etc. |
| 4. | For title case, a complex algorithm is used that yields acceptable results with no further editing necessary. It is important to note, however, than a computer program cannot achieve perfect results with title case. For example, there is no way for a computer to distinguish "KISS" (the rock group) from "Kiss" the action or verb. In such situations the algorithm will make choices to yield the best possible results, but perfection should not be expected. |

| 1. | Clicking this button will convert ALL artists and song titles in the entire database to uppercase. |
| 2. | This is only recommended if you prefer the actual data in your database to be in all uppercase. If you just want your song books to print in all uppercase then it is best to do this with the Case drop down list on the Song Book Viewer window. |
